We are a trained group
of teachers with passion to educate

We are committed to employing the best possible person for the position required. All staff are supported in taking part in on-going professional development. Our teachers all enjoy interacting with, and caring for, children. They are dedicated to providing your child/children with the best quality care and education. Our teaching staff have early childhood qualifications and participate in on-going training to further develop their skills and knowledge.

Students who are studying ECE at Tertiary Institutions and Colleges sometimes attend our centre for observation and work experience. These students always work with one of our qualified staff, are fully supervised and are not included in staff to child ratios.

Our Philosophy

We at Roscommon Learning Centre thrive on Relationships. We believe that warm, responsive and trusting relationships are built from many positive interactions over time. These occur when the caregiver is ‘in tune’ with the child’s signals and needs, and responds in a warm and positive way. We believe in scaffolding each child’s learning by guiding and supporting them through their developmental journeys and pathways. We also value the Whanau aspirations and priorities for their child’s learning. We welcome and respect the cultural diversity that our community brings us, and acknowledge the bi cultural heritage of Aotearoa founded in the Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

We aim to provide an environment that is homely, safe, nurturing, respectful, and offers a sense of belonging to our tamariki and their whanau. We believe in fostering social competence and confidence in children via a range of learning experiences by our learned educators. We embody the principles of Te Whariki within our curriculum- Holistic Development, Empowerment, Family and community, and relationships. We believe in learning through play and creating an environment that would trigger the little minds and make new discoveries each day.

We aim to provide an inclusive environment for our tamariki and welcome the cultural diversity that they bring in. We celebrate a rich environment where child’s language, rituals and symbols are promoted and protected.

Centre Owner

I have always loved children, from a very young age I have been confident in handling babies and wanting to entertain them. After marriage when contemplating having our own family a family member pointed out an Earn as you Learn scheme with Kindercare Learning Centre and NZ Tertiary College where you do a 40 hour week and night classes. And as the saying goes “the rest is history”

I love spending time with my whanau and our two dogs, watching my son and daughter play football, spending time at the beach which reminds me of my childhood hometown Taupo.
